CIVIC SOCIETY LUNCH CELEBRATES 40 YEARS’ SERVICE TO THE CITY
17th October 2008
Ripon Civic Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year - and a celebratory lunch at the city’s Spa Hotel on Saturday 15 November will be one of the highlights of this special year.
The lunch will offer members and friends the chance to reflect on how Ripon has changed since the Society was founded in 1968, and to look forward to the future. The Dean of Ripon, The Very Rev’d Keith Jukes, will speak after the meal, which the Mayor of Ripon, Cllr Sydney Hawke, will also attend.
There is still some space at the lunch, which is scheduled at 12.30 pm for 1.00 pm. Tickets cost £20.00 per person for three courses. Applications should be made, indicating a choice of main course (roast pork of mushroom stroganoff) with a cheque made payable to Ripon Civic Society, to the Secretary, Victoria Villa, Princess Road, Ripon HG4 1HW.
David Winpenny, Co-Chairman of Ripon Civic Society, says, ‘To have served the city for 40 years is no mean achievement – one recently recognised with the presentation of a Jewels of Ripon award to the Society. This special lunch is our main chance to celebrate our many achievements, and to look forward to our Golden Jubilee – and beyond! We hope that as many members and friends as possible will join us on 15 November to help us raise a glass to the Society’s future.’
