THE FORBIDDEN CORNER GIVES UP SECRETS IN SOCIETY’S TALK

The secrets behind one of the quirkiest gardens in Britain will be revealed on Thursday 5 October, when Malcolm Tempest will give a talk called ‘The Forbidden Corner – the Architect’s Perspective’ to Ripon Civic Society.

He will give an insight into the planning and design process of as the four acre fantasy garden developed from an idea by Colin Armstrong for a private space to amuse him and his friends to a prime tourist attraction in the Dales, full of labyrinthine of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises.

The talk takes place at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall on Victoria Grove in Ripon, starting at 7.30 pm. Visitors are welcome; admission for non-members is £2.00.

After the talk the Society will hold its Annual General Meeting, at which there will be a report on the year’s activities and a look forward to the 2009-2010 season.
