CIVIC SOCIETY TO HEAR FROM HARROGATE CONSERVATION OFFICER
24th October 2011
An insight into how Conservation Officers go about their task of looking after buildings in the Harrogate area will be provided by Ann Johnson, Principal Conservation Design Officer at Harrogate Borough Council, when she talks to Ripon Civic Society at its next meeting on Thursday 3 November.
Mrs Johnson will describe how she and her fellow officers go about their work and will talk about the constraints and challenges of working in a local government planning office.
David Winpenny, Chairman of Ripon Civic Society, says, ‘Much of the Civic Society’s work is taken up with dealing with the many listed buildings in the city and with the Conservation Area. That brings us into close contact with Ann and her colleagues, so we are delighted that she is able to come to talk to us about her work. We have promised not to be too demanding in our questions and comments!’
The meeting takes place at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall in Victoria Grove, Ripon, and starts at 7.30pm. Non-members are welcome, and pay £2.00 for the evening. After the talk the Society will hold its Annual General Meeting.
