RIPON CIVIC SOCIETY TO GET A YORKSHIRE PERSPECTIVE IN TALK
29th October 2013
A regional perspective on the Civic Society movement will be the theme of Ripon Civic Society’s next talk, when Kevin Trickett, Chairman of the Yorkshire and Humber Association of Civic Societies (YHACS) is the speaker.
His talk, called ‘'Building a modern civic society movement - what YHACS is doing to help', will set out how the Association, which consists of 44 local Civic Societies and Trusts across the region, and acts as a distinct voice for the Civic Society movement, helps its members to become effective and influential voices in their local communities.
In addition to being Chairman of YHACS, Kevin Trickett is President of Wakefield Civic Society and has many years’ experience in running community and national organisations. David Winpenny, Chairman of Ripon Civic Society and an executive committee member of YHACS, says, ‘ Kevin has helped to set up and inspire many local societies, and we know that his talk will be of interest to many people who are concerned with the wise development and the protection of our city and beyond. He’s an entertaining speaker, and we look forward to an inspiring evening.’
Everyone is welcome to the talk, which takes place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 7 November at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall, Victoria Grove, Ripon. There is a charge of £3.00 for anyone who is not a Ripon Civic Society member. The talk will be followed by the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
